Changes to Points when both team players are missing AND there is no substitute

In the past when both players of a team did not play and there was no substitute, the team that did show up got an automatic 5 points for the match.

Since there should be an incentive to play the rules committee "Bob" agreed that it wasn't fair that just because there was no competition the 5 points should be handed over. So, even if a player played above his handicap he got points.

The rules committee, again Bob, has decided that if a team does not show up and there is no substitute the following will happen.

Each player on the missing team will be assigned a Ghost player who will play to scratch Plus two extra shots.

What happens is the card will show the player scoring par on every hole AND adding extra shots to fill out the handicap + 2.

You can fill in the Ghost scores (see below) on the card.

So lets say the REAL player has a handicap of 11.

The program will give EACH GHOSTPLAYER ON THE OTHER TEAM. 36 + 2 = 38

The 2 extra shots will be spread over the card according to the handicap holes.
For Topstone front:
Holes 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

HCP 6 18 14 16 10 4 2 8 12

Par 4 5 4 3 5 4 4 3 4 36

Ghost 4 5 4 3 5 5 5 3 4 38
score

xtra 0 0 0 0 0 1 1 0 0 2

The REAL PLAYER has a handicap of 10:

He Must Shoot at a handicap of 12 or less to score points.

Let say he shoots the following Score.
For Topstone front:
Holes 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Hcp
Strokes 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 1 1 10

score 6 5 5 4 6 7 5 5 5 48 Net 38

Holes
Won L W T T T L W L T

The Player has Won 2 holes and Lost 3 holes for 0 points but Tied Net for 1/2 point

So to win/tie holes you must beat/tie the Ghost score on a hole and to win/tie the total match you must beat/tie the Ghost total.

The Ghost scores 0 points for the missing team. So if you want points for your team there must be a live player, yourself or a sub.

All points as of this last week of play show the results of this ruling.

The first two weeks of points in the "previous results" have not been changed but the point totals in Results for April 28 are the corrected totals.

Hey My handicap keeps changing

This year again the handicaping uses the different slopes of Topstone. It's 131 on the back and 111 on the front. USGA uses a 113 as an average.
Also the ratings are different, 34.0 on the Front and 35.0 on the back.
So what does this mean? It means that the back is about 1 stroke harder for a scratch golfer and 2 strokes harder for a golfer with a 9 handicap for 9 holes, etc. so if you have a 10 handicap on the front you may have a 12 on the back.
If you want your handicap calculations, just email me and I can send them to you.

Why are some of the points changing

When there is a golfer who doesn't have a League Handicap it takesone round to start him off.
For the first week the handicap is approximate. After the first round his handicap is calculated.

How do Substitutes work in the scoring

When a regular player does not play he can call a substitute to play in his place OR if there is a spot open and a Substitute shows up he is placed in the next available open slot.
This make the groups as close to foursomes as possible.
When a substitute plays he will get 80% of his handicap.
So, if a substitute has an 11 handicap for the round he will have to play to a 9.
When substitutes play, the team they are replacing get the points.
