Golfclub Paramaribo Local Rules
GOLFCLUB PARAMARIBO
January 2009	

GENERAL
o	U.S.G.A. rules govern all play except when modified by local rules.                             
o	Fairways are defined by white/green stakes or white/green markings on trees.
o	Water hazards are defined by yellow stakes.
o	Lateral water hazards are defined by red stakes.
o	Red/yellow painted stakes indicate both water hazard and lateral water hazard. The number in each color indicates the
        hole to which it applies.
o	Ground under repair is defined by blue markings or stakes.
o	Out of bounds is defined by white stakes.
o	All stakes are immovable obstruction (exc. Boundary stakes) (stakes may not be removed).

OUT OF BOUNDS
Defined by:
o	Stone walls around the golf course.
o	Line between white stakes left of the penalty ditch running along the left side of fairway # 9/18, from the T-box of hole # 4/13 along #9/18 fairway up to the stone wall ; there after the wall up to and past the #9/18 green.
o	When playing hole #16: the left side boundary of fairway 6/15 (see fairway boundaries) (ball lying in ditch is O.B.)
o	Parking area and clubhouse. 

LOCAL RULES   
01)	On the fairway of the hole being played only, lie of ball may be improved within 12 inches (Exception Grass Bunkers),  by hand (mark, lift, clean, place) not nearer the hole. After the ball has been placed it is in play and if it moves before player has addressed it, it shall be replaced without penalty. If the player causes the ball to move after it has been placed, Rule 18-2 applies: player shall incur a penalty of one stroke and the ball must be replaced unless the movement of the ball occurs after the player has begun the stroke or the backward movement of the club for the stroke and the stroke is made.
02)	The area within 20 meters from the edge of the green is considered fairway of that hole.
03)	Ball in crack, wheel track, hole, or interference from anthills, (Rule 25-1a applies; player must take relief under Rule 25-1b).(See exception to Rule 25-1b) Ball lost in crack (Rule 25-1c applies).
04)	When a ball lies in a small irrigation ditch or such a ditch interferes with the player's stance :
a.	In the fairway of the hole being played, the ball may be lifted and placed within one club length from the edge of the ditch but not nearer the hole.
b.	Otherwise, the ball may be lifted and dropped within one club length from the edge of the ditch but not nearer the hole.
The ball lies in the ditch if it lies completely under the imaginary horizontal line between the left side edge and the right side edge of the ditch. 
05)	Rule 25-2 Embedded Ball. The relief is extended to anywhere through the green, including the rough. 
06)	Supports of stone walls (holes #10 and  #5/14) ,distance markers, rain shelters, safety fences, concrete benches, practice net, electrical poles, water cooler, boulders, wooden fence around the pond (lateral water hazard) near men's T-box #9, concrete and metal covers of drains and PVC and other drainage pipes are immovable obstructions. 
Rule 24-2a applies: except when the ball is in a water hazard or lateral water hazard, player must take relief under 
Rule 24-2b. (See exception to Rule 24-2b)
07)	Protection of Young Plants is identified by blue ribbons attached to the plant. If such a plant interferes with a player's stance or the area of his intended swing, the ball must be lifted, without penalty, and dropped in accordance with the procedure described in Rule 24-2b (Immovable Obstruction). If the ball lies in a water hazard or a lateral water hazard, the player must lift and drop the ball in accordance with Rule 24-2b(i) except that the nearest point of relief must be in the water hazard or lateral water hazard and the ball must be dropped in the water hazard or lateral water hazard, or the player may proceed under Rule 26. The ball may be cleaned when lifted. 
Exception: A player may not take relief under this Local Rule if:
a)	 it is clearly unreasonable for him to make a stroke because of interference by anything other than the plant; or
b)	 interference by the plant would occur only through use of an unnecessarily abnormal stance, swing or direction of 
        play.
08)	Ball on putting green may not be moved, except when the intended line of putt crosses an area marked with blue lines or an area otherwise to be treated as G.U.R. under Local Rule #9.
09)	On the putting green, swells caused by ants, burrowing animals etc. interfering with the intended line of putt may be removed or pressed down.
10)	Mushrooms growing on the line of putt may be either treated as G.U.R. or removed by the player.
11)	Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions (Rule 24-1) and may be removed. Ball moved during the removal of the stones must be replaced, without penalty.
12)	Bare patches are G.U.R., except on overpasses across a water hazard or lateral water hazard. 

SUSPENSION OF PLAY
One air horn blast will sound to stop play. Players in the process of playing a hole may complete the hole. Other players shall stop play immediately.
Two air horn blasts to resume play. Three air horn blasts to suspend play.

RAIN RULES.
Effective only when posted.
If a ball is lost on the fairway of the hole being played, another ball may be dropped as close as possible to the spot where the original ball was lost, without penalty. In all other cases another ball may be dropped with a penalty of one stroke.
