Summary from League Meeting

Rules Committee:
The Rules committee will be Roger Keane, Phil Daley and Joe Smith. Any rules related questions are to be decided by them and their decisions are final. Rule questions can also be addressed on the "Community Forum" page.

League Format:

1) This year's league will commence on Tuesday April 20th. The regular season will last 19 weeks. We will not have a mid season tournament but we will have a picnic mid way through. During the regular season, team points will be accumulated the same as last year; 5 points for stroke play, 1 point for each hole, 1 point for the 9-hole match, and 1 show-up point.

2)There will not be a playoff again this year.

3) Rainouts may be made up by pushing to the next week.

Rule Specifics and Local Rules:

- New Members are asked to provide 2 scores from any course in order to calculate a handicap. If none are provided they will play with a ZERO handicap for their 1st round.

- If a player or team cannot play on the scheduled Tuesday, and if it is ok with their opponents team, the round can be played prior to the scheduled Tuesday with or without their opponent. Rounds must be completed by the end of the scheduled Tuesday. A "ghost sub" will be used for any member not showing up and a regular sub is not available. Ghost subs win no points.

- Players must establish their tees at the beginning of the season, and no changes may be made during the season. Penalty for rule violation is two strokes per hole played in stroke play, and loss of hole in match play.

- Balls may be moved a card length, but no closer to the hole, except in a hazard where they are not to be touched unless agreed upon with your playing partner due to rocks or water. That's an open score card length, not a golf cart length.

- Out of bounds is once again marked by white stakes or boundry fences. In particular this means the white stakes along 14 and the fence along 1,2 and 7. OB costs you a stroke and distance meaning you must take a drop where you last hit the ball as the ball is considered lost. (See lost ball rule 27 below)

- 18 and 6 and all ponds are Red Staked. This means that if your ball goes into the woods or otherwise gets lost you are to take your drop per the rules governing a lateral hazard through the hole which also includes the back of the green on 6 and the patch of grass on 18.

- This year the driveway is again out of bounds on the right of the12th hole.

- On the 9th hole, the white stake after June and Beverly's house on the right marks the end of the out of bounds, unless there is another white stake further down near the clubhouse.

-This year there will be no forfiets, a "ghost sub" will be used instead and will be explained the first Tuesday before play or if requested on the "Forum". We still encourage subs to join the league. We would rather have a body playing.

-Each foresome must govern "SLOW PLAY" within their group. Please try to keep up with the foursome in front.

-Signed score cards should not be turned in with out scores. If this happens a score will be provided in order for the match to be entered. The opponent will win on those which a score was not entered.

-A decision has been made about the sandtraps. Stones in the bunkers are declared movable obstructions as per the USGA rules of Golf., Appendix 1, Part A, 5B.

- A decision has also been made starting the 2009 season that a MAX of DOUBLE PAR is to be given on any hole so as to pick up the pace of play. This was voted on at the meeting.

- A Provisional aka "P-Ball" should be played if you think you may have lost your ball or there is a question on a rule for that hole. This will keep up the pace of play. Any questions concerning a "lost ball" can be found below on the Rule of the Week.

For Twillight golfers be sure to ask for a receipt and carts need to be returned to club house as posted.

Rule of the Week

Rule 27
Definitions:
A ball is "lost" if:
a) it is not found or identified as his by the player within 5 minutes after the player's side has begun to search for it; or
b) the player has put another ball into play under the rules, even though he may not have searched for the original ball; or
c) the player has played any stroke with a provisional ball from the place where the original ball is likely to be or from a point nearer the hole then the place, whereupon the provisional ball becomes the ball in play.
Time spent in playing a wrong ball is not counted in the 5 minute period allowed for search.

Notes from the "Pres", and the "First Lady" Manager

Please keep golf carts 30 feet away from the greens, sand traps and mounds near the greens. Also, please keep the carts on the cart paths on all par threes, and holes number 2, 5 and 7.

If every golfer fixes his/her own ball mark and one more on the greens, we can keep our greens in good shape.

Carts will be stocked with sand/seed mix and should be used, especially on the tee boxes for those less-than-fluffy shots we often hit.

Please also try to replace your divots in the fairways.

A USGA Handicap System is available in the Clubhouse for anyone interested. The cost for League Members is $10.00 / yr, Club Members Included w / Membership, Non Members is $15.00 / yr.

Please let us know of any concerns (Rules, Inappropriate Behavior, etc.) through email and we will address them individually as needed.

Remember, we are all out here to have a good time.
