Tournament Formats

  


 

Flight Competition

"Flights" are used for all indivdual stroke play competetion. Flights provide equitable competition between players with comparable handicaps. All players are flighted using thier Stroke index, from the lowest to the highest. The total number of players determine the size of the fiights. To help maintain equitable competition, flights may vary in size by 2 or 3 players in some tournaments.



ABCD Team Competition

Because Teams consist of players with differing handicap indexs, all Teams will compete in a single flight. Players sign up as individuals and will be randomly drawn and placed on a Team by the Tournament Director.



Medal Play (Individual Stroke Play)

Players compete against all other players within their flight, using 90% of thier handicap. Maximum handicap allowed is 25. The player with the lowest net score within each flight wins that flight. Second lowest wins 2nd place,etc.



Stableford

A variation of Medal Play, with flights, but hole-by-hole scoring is on a point system. Net Double Eagle = 5 points, Net Eagle = 4 points, Net Birdie = 3 points, Net Par = 2 Points, Net Bogey = 1 point, Net Double Eagle = 0. The player(team) with the highest point total within each flight wins, second hightest wins 2nd place, etc.



1-2-3 Best Ball

Each team members plays their own ball thoughout the round. On each hole, a predetermined number of lower scores is used. On the first hole, the lowest score among the four players counts as the team score. On the second hole, the two lowes t scores become the team score. On the third hole, the three lowest scores become the team score. On the fourth hole, it's back to the one lowest score, and so on throughout the round.



2-Player Best Ball

Each team member plays his/her own ball until holed out. The One Net Low Score of the team for each hole will be used for the team score. The team with the lowest net is the winner. The team with the 2nd lowest net is second, etc.



4 Person 2-Best Ball

Each team members plays their own ball until holed out. The two lowest net scores fo the team for each hole will be used for the team score. The team with the lowest net score wins. The team with the second lowest score is 2nd, etc.



Match Play

Members who compete in Match Play will be drawn into a tournament bracket and play 1-on-1 with other members within that bracket in a single elimination competition. Players continue to compete as long as the they continue to win their matches. Loser of a match is eliminated for Match Play competition. All Match Play is "Hole-by Hole" competition with the winner of the hole determined by Low Net Score for each of the 18 holes. Holes with tie net scores are considered halved. The winner of the match is the player with the most holes won.



Shoot Out

Shoot Out is a tournament format where the "players" are limited by the number of holes played(i.e. 19 for 18 holes and 10 for 9 holes). On each hole, one player is eliminated until only one remains - the champion crowned on the 9th or 18th hole.
All players must complete each hole before play moves on. On each hole, the high score is eliminated. Ties on a hole are decided by a playoff, usually chipping closet to the hole.



4 Person Best Ball

Each team member plays his/her own ball until holed out. The one low Net score of the team for each hole will be used for the team score. The team with the lowest net score wins. The team with the second lowest net score is 2nd, etc.



4-Club

4-Club is a golf tournament or game is exactly what it sounds like: all players play with just four clubs. The choice of clubs is left up to each player.



Scramble

Each player tees off on each hole. The best of the tee shots is selected and all the players play their second shots from that spot. The best of the second shots is determined,, then all play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed out.
